Lightning killed great granddad Arch New Years eve 1900
The blinding bang flattened his boys inside the open door shed
Son Alexander married Honor – the wind in their sails

Blood infection claimed poor Honor so Alex packed up the kids
Aunty Lizzie helped ’em wander north to find a new place to live
In brigalow scrub near Dulacca where prickly pear was thick
1910 they started to carve out a new life in the sticks

Alexander struck a heart of gold young Edith Cunnington
Soft as a pillow solid as a rock - she was a special one
Yeah they were married in Dalby – a time to pray and dream
Ethel Florrie soon came along then Lloyda Milt and Win

Archie Ruth and Gwen arriving made one fair dozen
Some babies didn’t make it through not for a lack of lovin
The years rolled along mother nature played her hand
One by one they married spreading over our golden land.

World War II hit like a storm, families helped each other
The little cousins got together playing with one another
When the war was over the breeding picked up pace
Curly haired kids were popping out running all over the place
