Here’s a piece of history Here’s a piece of cake Don’t mind a bit of mystery Or a genuine mistake There’s a blue winged kookaburra Losin’ his humour Mistaken identity Or just another rumour Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me Imagination or reality Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me Hold me in the dark There’s an island of dogs and sand Fraser the amazer Blue eyes an’ sunburnt hands Moth eaten blazer There’s a young man running round the world Trying to find a goal Looking for a piece in a puzzle Came a muse for a girl Oh don’t go and leave me on the shore Oh will I see you any more There’s a woman plainly pickled Got a prickle in her soul Lost and lonely always giggles World of her own There’s flowers dying on a guidepost Cross in a tree Someone somewhere crying Down on one knee

Nice Feeling 02:48
If you insist I won’t resist Let you come to me If you’re elated I’ve relegated All my responsibility It’s a nice feeling When you’re reeling Your way to me If I look bored You mighta scored I’m dancing inside If you’re inclined I’ll find the time Running with the tide I don’t mind Growing older You’re around Head on a shoulder Heart beats rain drops Tapping on the roof Hear the waves lapping Don’t wanna hear the truth Blue waves rolling On the water line I can feel you reeling Taking your time

The sky was blue It was a beautiful day You were so perfect I had to watch you float away It was a heated day in Washington After cleaning up the mess To the backyard with a blanket For a game of bikini chess I could see an ocean Inside a cumulo-nimbus I watched your broken navel ring as I Caressed your fingers I never saw a cloud that saw a second day Kind of hope this one carries me away Carry me away I hope this cloud carries me away

Penny Holmes having trouble with her boyfriend She’s been up half the night worrying But you know it’s never gonna change him And the dogs are sleeping Her sister Mary feeling so unhappy She’s had a go in with her Daddy She’s been awake for hours weeping And the dogs are sleeping You always thought them crazy Running up and down the fence all day yeah You always thought them stupid It’s a good thing they didn’t know what you did Brother Nathan on a rampage Heading backwards through another stage Threatens leaving he always stays And the dogs are sleeping Mum and Dad sticking together One fight battle on forever They vowed to rough all weather And the dogs are sleeping The dogs have got you beaten They’re getting their good nights sleeping The dogs have got you licked Even though you might think it’s a trick You always thought them crazy Lying in the shade all day yeah You always thought them stupid It’s a good thing they didn’t know what you did

Nightswimming deserves a quiet night The photograph on the dashboard Taken years ago Turned around backwards So the windshield shows Every streetlight reveals The picture in reverse Still it’s so much clearer I forgot my shirt at the water’s edge The moon is low tonight Nightswimming deserves a quiet night I’m not sure all these people understand It’s not like years ago The fear of getting caught Of recklessness and water They cannot see me naked These things they go away Replaced by everyday Nightswimming remembering that night September’s coming soon I’m pining for the moon And what if there were two Side by side in orbit Around the fairest sun That bright tight forever drum Could not describe nightswimming You I thought I knew you You I cannot judge You I thought you knew me This one laughing quietly Underneath my breath nightswimming The photograph reflects Every streetlight a reminder Nightswimming deserves a quiet night Deserves a quiet night

Lying in the white sand Listening to a dirt band Lying in the warm sand Thinking of your cold plan Lying in the warm white sand Lying in the warm white sand You coulda been here too if you really really wanted to You coulda been here now you kept saying “anyhow” You coulda been with me at the Bay lapping up the sea I’m waiting for the tide to turn Walking in the moonlight water looking so bright Walking in the moonlight wonder where you are to-night Walking in the pale moonlight Walking in your fading light You coulda been here too you knew exactly what you’re gonna do You coulda been here now can still hear you saying “anyhow” You coulda been with me at the Bay swimming in the sea I’m waiting for the tide to turn I know the tide is gonna turn

about

This album was a mammoth effort by all. Dean Patterson’s contribution was huge. The input from all the musicians and the artwork by Fraser was greatly appreciated.

It started at Harry and Susie’s home on Macleay Island one week-end in late 2006. A memorable experience. This album was produced over 2006 to 2008 mainly in Dean’s homes at Lang St and Kennigo St, Brisbane. Maria Patterson’s patience and cups of tea were appreciated.

The Blue Waves and friends are all ‘married to music’ as Gino put it. Most of us don’t depend on music for income. None of us are divorced from this passion yet.

I hope the listeners enjoy it as much as we did.
Thanks and all the best,

Ken
